Hong Kong's largest carrier Cathay Pacific Airways recently unveiled its new business class seat at an event in Hong Kong.

The event, dubbed "Light Up the Sky", was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center with Henry Tang, the chief secretary for administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, as guest of honor. More than 3,000 participants attended the event.

According to Tony Tyler, the CEO of Cathay Pacific, said the new flat-bed business class seat was developed after listening to what the airline's customers had to say and he believed that it would underline their commitment to excellence in innovation.

The carrier's Airbus A330-300 will be the first aircraft to have the new product and will enter service on flights on the Sydney route in March. The carrier will have installed the new seats in all of its 30 Boeing 777-300ERs and 20 long-haul Airbus A330-300s by February 2013.

The company also showed a new uniform for cabin crew and other customer-facing staff at the event.
